This way my PC and NAS would be in sync and I'd have achieved at least 1 level of duplication. So i'm thinking of building everything around my NAS and then figure out how to backup those folders on my PC. Now that I'm working with data on multiple devices like phone and especially my NAS i feel the need to re-organize my data. When all my data was on 1 pc I think I had pretty much nailed the organization (as per my liking) of my data into drives/partitions/folders. I know the keywords to look for, but other than running a search and then seeing XXXXX posts- what can I do after that to put it into a spreadsheet so we can share it?Īny advice on what is the best way to do this? I was hoping there was some kind of automatic app or search software or something that could go in and do this and then catalog all the posts ?Any help is greatly appreciated. People need to cling to hope and success stories, and dealing with so much, it's very hard to figure out how to sort and find these stories, especially when you just got handed a death sentence. We desperately need to figure out how to search and save all these links into a file to sort hopefully by cancer type etc. However, there are stories in the group of people who HAVE stage 4 and are considered 'success stories' and still alive against odds. Sometimes you have weeks, sometimes months. Specifically- when someone is stage 4 you are looking at extreme odds against you. Stage 4 cancer support group on FB needs help. Is there a way to automate this process? Is there a windows program, or batch file, or command that can take the folder structure of the smaller version and use it as a 'template' to automatically re-organise the photos in the full-size version? I would like to take the original full-size version and re-organise it so that it matches the same descriptive folder structure as the smaller 500px version. Both versions share the same filenames, the only differences are dimensions, file size, and folder structure. So now I have two versions, the original full-size version (organized into date folders), and the smaller 500px version (organized into descriptive folders). For example, "My Photos - Copy/Animals/Pets/Dogs/Rover/IMG_1234.JPG". I then manually organized the copy into a folder structure based on hundreds of descriptive folder names. For example, "My Photos/2022_08_23/IMG_1234.JPG".įor specific reasons, I needed smaller versions of these photos to work with, so I make a copy of the entire "My Photos" folder and reduced the dimensions of the photos in the copy to 500px. I have over 20,000 photos that are in folders named after the date they were taken. I'm not planning on pulling these out on a regular basis, maybe just to upgrade the storage medium when there are any major changes in the next couple decades. So basically, these are my "in case I'm not around" videos.

He was 48 when I was born so I'm feeling the need to plan ahead in case my son follows the family tradition of being an older dad. I'm 40, and my dad died back in 2014, so there a lot of things I want to ask him about how he raised me. What this is for is that my first child was born last week and I'm starting to make a series of videos as relevant to document different things like why I made the choices I did. At the moment I'm leaning towards getting a high quality USB drive and keeping it in a safe, and maybe doing secondary cloud backup (but I'm not a fan of relying on cloud storage, I'm too 20th century for my own good sometimes). I know that it's hard to predict how technology will change in that time, both hardware and software, but I'm focused mostly on the hardware side because it's moot if the hardware fails. This may be a little off center of this sub's mandate, but I'm looking for suggestions on how to archive digital video so that it can be accessed in 30-40+ years.
